VACANCIES FOR THE POST OF MEMBERS OF THE COUNCIL OF THE ENERGY AND WATER UTILITIES REGULATORY AUTHORITY – CONSUMER CONSULTATIVE COUNCIL (EWURA CCC)
1.0 BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The Energy and Water Regulatory Authority – Consumer Consultative Council (EWURA CCC) is a Council established under Section 30 of the EWURA Act, Cap. 414.
Functions of the Council conferred under Section 31(1) of the Act are:
a) Representing the interests of consumers by making submissions to, providing views and information to, and consulting with the Authority, Minister, and sector Ministers.
b) Receiving and disseminating information and views on matters of interest to consumers of regulated goods and services.
c) Establishing regional and sector consumer committees and consulting with them.
d) Consulting with industry, Government, and other consumer groups on matters of interest to consumers of regulated goods and services.
e) Establishing local and sector consumer committees and consulting with them.
EWURA CCC is composed of seven members appointed by the Minister of Energy from amongst a list of the business community or by organization(s) legally recognized as being representative of private sector interests.
2.0 VACANT POSTS OF MEMBERS OF EWURA CCC
The tenure of three (3) Council members ended in July 2023. Consequently, the Chairman of the Nomination Committee, who is also the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, under the authority conferred by the Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (Appointment and Tenure of member of the Consumer Consultative Council), made under Section 41 of the EWURA Act, invites applications from suitably qualified Tanzanians for the vacant positions of EWURA CCC members.
3.0 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants seeking appointment as EWURA CCC members must meet the following minimum qualifications:
- A thorough understanding of the interests of:
- Consumers and those of regulated services.
- Low-income, rural, and disadvantaged individuals.
- Industrial and business users.
- Government and community organizations.
- A graduate from a recognized university or equivalent institution.
- A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in one or more of the following fields:
- Management
- Law
- Economics
- Mass communication
- Sociology
- Finance
- Electrical engineering
- Knowledge of the energy, water, or utility regulation industry.
- Not a leader of a political party.
- Willingness and availability to serve as a member of EWURA CCC.
- In the opinion of the Nomination Committee, otherwise suitable to perform the functions and duties of a member competently and honestly.
- Must be a Tanzanian.
