Adolescents’ Health in Adolescents’ Hands Project “AHA!”
The Project Manager assumes a pivotal role in providing technical leadership and oversight for the implementation of the second project phase (2025-2027).
The project AHA! aims at improving sexual and reproductive health (SRH) and rights of adolescents aged between 10-19 years in the rural district of Ulanga, Tanzania. It addresses the key challenges in this context: the unmet demand and inadequate supply of adolescent friendly SRH information and services. A key feature of this project is increasing adolescents’ participation and adolescent-led activities.
The Project Manager, together with the SolidarMed project team, will work closely with the communities, health facility teams, education department, and Council and Regional Health Management teams to ensure the successful implementation of the project.
Your tasks and responsibilities
Project implementation, steering and technical support
- Lead the implementation of the project
- Develop work plans and reports according to agreed milestones and donor requirements
- Prepare and ensure validity of all project’s legal documents (such as MOUs with authorities)
- Develop and proactively share ideas for evidence-based further development of the project
Human resource, administration, finance and procurement
- Leading, managing and coaching the project team in Ulanga
- Ensure proper management of the project resources (human, financial, materials)
- Ensure that the project budget is properly managed and handled in an efficient and effective manner
Monitoring, research and reporting
- Ensure adequate project monitoring, data analysis and use for actions and steering
- Lead the project’s operational research / evaluations including writing of publications and result dissemination
- Prepare quality project reports for timely submission to the relevant authorities and donors
Partnership, Representation, Coordination and Policy Dialogue
- Include all relevant project staff, stakeholders, and authorities in the relevant project cycle management steps and ensure that adolescents can take a relevant role
- Proactively look for new partnerships and networks and conduct policy dialogue
- Promote visibility and representation of SolidarMed locally, nationally, and internationally
Your profile
To best fit into our active, interdisciplinary team, we are looking for a highly motivated individual with the following qualifications:
- Physician (MD) or Public Health expert (MPH) with at least 5 years of project management experience, including staff and financial management
- Public health work experience including health promotion and education in rural settings in Sub-Saharan Africa
- Strong organizational, communication and negotiation skills to facilitate policy dialogue
- Experience in knowledge sharing, implementation research and scientific exchange (experience in research would be an asset)
- Solid computer skills, ideally also data analysis
- Creative, open-minded, flexible, self-learner
- Willingness to travel in the district and to other parts of the country for representation and networking
- Fluent Kiswahili (written and spoken) or willingness to learn
- Previous work experience in Tanzania and in the region would be an asset
