Position Description
North Mara Gold Mine Limited is seeking to recruit a Process Plant Technical Trainer to join and grow their team. You will be expected to align to the Barrick DNA and to operate within our mining assets with our best people teams. You will contribute in a safe and cost-effective manner to achieve targets in accordance with Mine Safety Standards, Policies and Procedures and ensure daily targets are met.
About North Mara
The North Mara gold Mine is located in north-west Tanzania in the Tarime district of the Mara region. It is around 100 kilometres east of Lake Victoria and 20 kilometres south of the Kenyan border.
North Mara started commercial production in 2002. The mine is a combined open pit and underground operation from two deposits, Gokona (underground) and Nyabirama (open pit).
Responsibilities
- Technical and operational support/direction of Plant Operations in day-to-day functions
- Conduct all Plant inductions as required.
- Reviewing and updating of all Process Plant SOP’s as per the review dates.
- Managing and providing training rosters and skills development programs
- Delivery of training materials and programs as required
- To conduct Practical assessments to operators.
- To conduct Practical assessments to operators.
- To request / organize external training for employees
- Monitor all plant employee permits and licenses for issues and renewals.
- Manage the Process Plant monthly planned inspections for compliances
- Present quarterly feedback on the development progress of trainees
- Present quarterly feedback on the development progress of trainees
- Maintain and update personnel training records.
- Strive for the continuous Improvement of existing training methods and materials.
- Maintain and update personnel training records.
- Reviewing and updating of all Process Plant SOP’s as per the review dates.

- Actively participate in action plans and risk assessments relating to all incident or accident investigations
- Actively participate in the Morning Process Shift change meetings to discuss the Training departments
- requirements to the oncoming Shift Supervisor Leaders
- Provide Production assistance to all Process Shift Supervisor (Including Mill relining
- Participate in required plant inspections and reline
- Actively participate in Cyanide code compliances
- Actively participate in ISO 45001 compliances
- Actively participate in ISO 14001 compliances
Qualification requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Extraction Metallurgy.
- Full Technician or Trade Certificate (FTC) in Mineral Processing or equivalent.
Experience and competencies needed
- Experience in technical training facilitation in Gold processing and plant maintenance.
- Metallurgical Operator Training and Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Gold Process Plant environments as a Trainer.
- In-depth knowledge of Gold plant operations, especially in crushing, milling, Rotation, thickening, filtration, tailings disposal and maintenance.
- Well-developed oral and written communication skills as well as the ability to interact with People of diverse cultures and levels.
- Strong Safety Background and ability to drive a safe working environment and practices.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
- Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment.
- Driving ability.
