JV-SPEK is a joint venture of four leading CLASS 1, Civil, Building, Mechanical, and Electrical Contractors in Tanzania: Skyline Properties, Pioneer Builder, Emirate Builders, and Kings Builders, undertaking National and Multinational projects.

EACOP has awarded JV-SPEK the contract for Early Civil Works of some Main Camps and Coating Yards (MCPY and CY) and its access road within Tanzania.

Therefore, JV-SPEK is inviting willing and qualified candidates to apply for various positions required for the execution of EACOP Projects under JV-SPEK while upholding the ZERO HARM agenda.

Below are the available vacancies:

1. PROJECT MANAGER-CIVIL (2 POSTS)

As a Project Manager at JV-SPEK, you will be responsible for managing project and business health, including human capital, financials, and all other project resources, to ensure ZERO HARM best practices. In this role, you will be accountable for executing and delivering contractual terms set by the entity and the client, while optimizing resource utilization and providing strategic leadership and management. He/she will be responsible for Contract Management, facility management, Budgeting and cost control of the project, Management of resources, risk assessments, stakeholder engagement, quality controls, etc.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
  • Must be registered as a Graduate/Professional Engineer with ERB.
  • At least 5+ years of working experience in a similar role.
  • Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills.
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills.
  • Makes responsible and efficient use of time, talent, money, assets, and natural resources to achieve plans and goals.

2. CONSTRUCTION MANAGER-CIVIL (2 POSTS)

The Construction Manager at JV SPEK is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of a construction project, including budgeting, scheduling, risk and resource management, and quality control. They must ensure that the project is completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards by following ZERO HARM best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
  • Must be registered as a Graduate/Professional Engineer with ERB.
  • At least 5+ years of previous experience in the civil engineering industry.
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of construction management processes, means and methods, relevant rules, regulations, and quality standards.
  • Ability to effectively multitask while analyzing and solving problems.

3. SR. QUANTITY SURVEYOR /CONTRACTS MANAGER-(1 POST)

The Senior Quantity Surveyor/Contract Manager will be responsible for managing construction projects from start to finish, ensuring that they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. This will include managing all contractual and commercial aspects of the project, such as procurement, pricing, cost control, and payment applications. The Senior Quantity Surveyor/Contract Manager will work closely with the project team to ensure that all aspects of the project are delivered to the client’s satisfaction while promoting  ZERO HARM best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, or related field equivalent.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in the Construction Industry with similar large-scale projects & environments .
  • Technical Competencies: Broad Contracts and Project experience (both commercial and contractual).
  • Ability to work in a multicultural business environment.

4. QUANTITY SURVEYOR-(2 POSTS)

The Quantity Surveyor at JV SPEK is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of a construction project, including budgeting, reporting, scheduling, cost, and quality control. They must ensure that the project is completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards, while promoting ZERO HARM best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, or related field.
  • At least 5+ years of previous experience in the civil engineering industry.
  • Extensive experience in commercial management and procurement of subcontractors, including chairing regular meetings, measurement, and control cycles, certificates, and accruals calculations.
  • Ability to demonstrate a good knowledge of monthly reporting and earned value analysis.
  • Excellent team player whilst also holding the ability to work independently on their own initiative.
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to work within tight deadlines.

5. PLANNING ENGINEER-(2 POSTS)

The Planning Engineer will be responsible for developing and managing project schedules for construction projects. He/She will work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. The Construction Planning Engineer will use various tools and software to create and maintain project schedules, analyze project risks, and identify opportunities to improve project delivery while promoting ZERO HARM best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 4 years of working experience especially in construction work.
  • Planning and project management skills.
  • Strong analytical, critical, and logical thinking skills.
  • Monitoring and tracking project progress, and writing up reports.
  • Ensuring all projects are completed on time and within budget.

6QA-QC ENGINEER / MATERIAL ENGINEER (2 POSTS)

The JV SPEK Material Engineer/QAQC is responsible for researching, testing, and selecting materials that will be used in construction projects. They evaluate materials to determine their strength, durability, and ability to withstand different environmental conditions. The Material Engineer/QAQC is accountable for ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations while promoting ZERO HARM best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
  • Must be registered as a Graduate/Professional Engineer with ERB.
  • Minimum 4 years of progressively responsible experience in construction work with an emphasis on materials testing, quality control and assurance, laboratory testing, and a firm understanding of requirements and specifications of testing and materials.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Extremely detail-oriented and excellent organization and time-management.

7. LOGISTICS OFFICER(2 POSTS)

The Logistics Officer is responsible for managing and coordinating logistical activities on construction sites. This includes overseeing the movement of personnel, equipment, and materials to ensure efficient project execution. The role involves planning, organizing, and monitoring logistics operations, maintaining inventory control, and implementing ZERO HARM best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics and Transport Management or a related field. 
  • At least 4 years of working experience.
  • Ability to work with little supervision and track multiple processes.
  • Outstanding organizational and coordination abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

8WORKSHOP ENGINEER (2 POSTS)

The Workshop Engineer is responsible for managing and overseeing the workshop operations within a construction company. This role involves supervising the maintenance and repair of construction equipment, ensuring the availability of tools and machinery, and providing technical expertise to support construction projects while promoting ZERO HARM best practices. Workshop Engineer collaborates with project managers, equipment operators, and maintenance staff to optimize workshop efficiency and ensure the smooth operation of construction activities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 year’s experience as a Workshop Engineer.
  • Experience with heavy machinery is a must.
  • Must possess a strong personality and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to work in all kinds of contexts including unstable areas.
  • Ability to be able to apply engineering knowledge for new projects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

9. HEALTH ,SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENT OFFICER(HSE) (1 POST)

JV SPEK Health, Safety, and Environment Officers are responsible for ensuring that construction activities are carried out in a safe and healthy manner and that the environment is protected from harm while maintaining ZERO HARM best practices at the workplace. This includes the implementation of safety policies, procedures, and programs in accordance with local regulations and industry best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of working experience especially in construction work.
  • Organization skills to manage multiple safety projects and analyze multiple studies at once.
  • Public speaking skills to give presentations and present oral reports regarding health, safety, and environmental hazards within a specific workplace or geographic area.
  • Leadership skills to manage other health, safety, and environment staff members and assign them specific investigative tasks.

10. HUMAN RESOURCES OFFICER (1POST)

JV SPEK Human Resources Officer is responsible for providing support and guidance to the construction team on all matters relating to human resources. This will include managing the recruitment process, training, performance management, developing, and implementing policies and procedures, managing employee relations, ensuring compliance with employment legislation, and promoting ZERO HARM best practices,

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in Human Resources.
  • A good understanding of the Tanzania Labor laws.
  • Outstanding organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

11. EARTH WORK FOREMAN (4 POSTS)

The JV SPEK Foreman will be responsible for overseeing and supervising construction projects from start to finish. They will ensure that the project is completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. The Foreman will work closely with the Construction Manager, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure that all work is carried out safely and efficiently. They will ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations while promoting ZERO HARM best practices.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma.
  • Minimum experience of 6 years.
  • Ability to organize a work schedule.
  • Deep knowledge of the construction industry and processes.
  • Ability to write and speak English.
  • Perform quality checks on construction equipment.

12. SITE ENGINEER(2 POSTS)

The JV SPEK Site Engineer is responsible for managing and supervising all on-site construction activities to ensure that the project is completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. The role involves working closely with the project manager, architects, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure that the project is executed according to the design and specifications. Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations, while promoting ZERO HARM best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field. 
  • Minimum 4 years of working experience in a Construction company as a Site Engineer or a similar role. 
  • Proficiency in Computer-aided drafting (CAD) software. 
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team.  
  • Good verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to deal with different personalities and remain calm and Ability to maintain a positive work environment. A hardworking and detail-orientated individual and able to work in harsh conditions.

13. ENVIRONMENTAL OFFICER(1 POSTS)

JV SPEK Environmental Officer will be responsible for overseeing and managing environmental initiatives, compliance, and sustainability efforts throughout our projects. The primary objective is to minimize environmental impact while promoting sustainable practices and adherence to local, and country regulations. The Environmental Officer collaborates with various departments to integrate environmental considerations into all stages of construction projects. He/She must ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations while promoting ZERO HARM best practices.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Environmental Engineering, Sustainability, or a related field
  • Prior experience of at least 3 years in environmental management or a related field, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Ability to analyze environmental data and interpret results.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with internal teams, external stakeholders, and regulatory agencies.
  • Strong understanding of environmental regulations, permits, and compliance requirements relevant to construction projects.
  • Experience in conducting environmental impact assessments and developing environmental management plans is added advantage.

14. HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGER (1 POST)

Human Resources Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of human resources management and ensuring the effective functioning of the company’s workforce as a performance driver. He/She will be responsible for developing and implementing Human Resources strategies and policies that align with the company’s goals and objectives. He/she will be responsible for recruitment and Staffing, Employee Relations, Training and development, compensation and benefit, policies and compliance, and Human Resources Data Management. He/She must ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations while promoting ZERO HARM best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive Human Resources management experience, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of Human Resources principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Familiarity with labour laws, regulations, and industry-specific requirements.
  • Excellent leadership abilities and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for addressing HR issues.
  • Ability to align Human Resources initiatives with company goals and contribute to company growth.
  • High ethical standards and professionalism in handling sensitive information.
