Objectives & Expected Results
OBJECTIVES

Support the Nutrition coordinator and the Senior Nutritionist in planning, implementing, monitoring and accounting the project activities according to the objectives of the project and in line with national nutrition policies and strategies.

EXPECTED RESULTS
The quality of health and nutrition services offered by the health structures improved and the activities implemented are integrated in the National Nutrition Action Plan and in National Health Strategy.
1. Awareness and knowledge on the adoption of good nutrition, hygiene, health and Early Child Development practices increased at health facility and community levels. with PM in implementation of activities.
Specific Tasks and Activities
– Conduct quarterly supportive supervisions with health care providers and district nutrition officers using the checklist included in the national IMAM guidelines as well as the performance IMAM tools designed by the project team;
– Conduct data collection in the health facilities supported by the project using the IMAM database;
– Support data reporting process, ensuring all data collected from the health facilities are timely sent to the Nutrition Coordinator, the Senior Nutritionist and the M&E officer for data quality assessment and analysis;
– Participate in quarterly reflection meetings with M&E officer, Senior Nutritionist and Nutrition Coordinator based on data collected in the health facility, eventually promoting an internal learning process for quality improvement;
– Prepare quarterly reports related to supportive supervision and/or any additional report when requested by the Nutrition Coordinator or CUAMM staff;
– Prepare, supervise and conduct together with the Nutrition Coordinator and the Senior Nutritionist, biannual IMAM meetings at regional level with all the IMAM focal persons of the health facilities and district/regional officers, with the aim of identify the best strategies to be used for overcoming the persistent challenges related to SAM management;
– Support the Nutrition Coordinator in the implementation of ECD activities at health facility and community level, ensuring the component is well integrated at both levels;
– Contribute to ensure and supervise the effective referral systems
along the continuum of care for the project beneficiaries in collaboration with the field officer, DNuOs and the health staff;
– Support the Senior Nutritionist in the annual estimation of SAM cases for the therapeutic food purchasing and distribution;
– Supervise the correct use of Therapeutic food allocated in all the health facilities supported by the project and coordinate the annual order made by the organization;
– Participate in the District and Regional Steering Committee meetings and Nutrition Compact Review meetings together with the Nutrition Coordinator and the M&E officer;
– Remains up-to-date with latest national surveys and strategies on nutrition and IMAM;
– Perform Nutrition Compact orientation at ward level in those area where the contract is not yet signed/implemented, in collaboration with district and villages authorities;
– Support the mapping of the current situation of community health workers (CHWs) in the project area (presence, number, coverage, training packages received etc…) and constantly update the Nutrition Coordinator on their operability.
– Support the organization of Village Health and Nutrition Days in the project area in collaboration with villages leaders and district authorities and in accordance with the national guidelines;
– Strengthen communication and collaboration with district and ward LGAs in order to ensure ownership and sustainability of the project;
– Ensure quality data reported at community level by quarterly supervising the work made by the community health workers and generally ensuring a constant contact with the CHWs;
As part of the team, s/he will contribute to CUAMM’s general Mission and Goals.
The Junior Nutritionist is co-responsible for the good implementation of both project health facility and community’s nutrition activities, as per work plan. S/he will coordinate with the Senior Nutritionist and the Nutrition Coordinator. S/he will also be co-responsible to maintain good relationships with government counterparts and other stakeholders at local and District level and, particularly, with health and nutrition institutions.
S/he is responsible, with the Nutrition Coordinator and Senior Nutritionist, of the image and reputation of the organization at Local level.

Required Qualifications and Experience
– Bachelor degree in Human Nutrition;
– 2 years of working experience as Nutritionist;
-Experience in data collection and analysis;
-Experience with International NGOs is an asset;
– Proven proficiency in oral/written English;
– Computer literacy in MS Office and Internet
