Job Summary
The Tracking Officer is responsible for monitoring and ensuring the timely and efficient movement of vehicles, shipments, or equipment. The role involves utilizing GPS tracking systems, analyzing route efficiency, and coordinating with drivers and operational teams to ensure seamless transport and delivery operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Control truck movement.
- Monitor and ensure the fleet operation complies with national laws and regulations.
- Prepare reports and raise issues such as violation of speed limits, illegal haulage etc.
- Immediately report all incidents regarding transportation to management.
- To ensure full tracking of loaded trucks down to its assigned destination.
- To ensure reporting of any illegal /suspicious activities and truck diversion.
- To ensure recording /entering of all violation into the tracking logbook.
- Monitoring of Turnaround Time (TAT) down time.
- Monitoring of all company’s fleets.
- Take on other related tasks assigned by Management.
Key Skills and Competencies
- Proficiency in GPS tracking systems and transportation management software.
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite). o Ability to analyze routes, optimize travel schedules, and detect inefficiencies.
- Clear and professional communication, both verbal and written.
- Excellent interpersonal skills for coordination with drivers and teams. o Quick decision-making in response to emergencies or disruptions. o Attention to detail in maintaining records and schedules.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Transport Management, or a related field (preferred).
- Proven experience in a similar role in logistics, transport, or supply chain management.
- Familiarity with fleet management and GPS tracking systems is a plus.
Additional Requirements
- Flexibility to work in shifts or extended hours when necessary.
- Strong knowledge of local, regional and outside of Tanzania geography.
