Geita Gold Mining Ltd (GGML) is Tanzania’s leading gold producer with a single operation in Geita Region. The company is a subsidiary of AngloGold Ashanti, an international gold producer headquartered in Denver, USA. AGA has operations in more than ten countries across four continents. The mine is situated in the Lake Victoria Gold fields of Northwestern Tanzania, only about 120 km’s from Mwanza City and 20 km’s Southeast of the nearest point of Lake Victoria. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
To provide leadership towards developing a sustainable business improvement culture within a mine site as well as driving continuous improvement of the business, through development and implementation of effective and efficient business improvement methodologies, tools and processes in line with the company’s short- and long-term strategic business and operational objectives and relevant guidelines and frameworks.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Relevant tertiary qualification.
• Degree in a technical field such as engineering.
• Master’s degree in Business Improvement, Business Process Re-engineering or related discipline is an added advantage.
EXPERIENCE:
• 5 – 10 years relevant experience in mining.
• Business Improvement Leadership in the mining environment is an added advantage.
• Substantial experience of successfully delivering organisational redesign and change management programmes.
• Qualification or substantial experience in project management is an added advantage.
• Experience of influencing and gaining buy – in by developing effective relationships.
MAIN OR KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Business Process Improvement:
• Align to Continuous Improvement framework, strategy, and vision by driving Operational Excellence culture throughout the business unit.
• Assume overall accountability for continuous improvement project identification, prioritization, and selection; tracking project results; monitoring project progress and reporting on progress toward business objectives.
• Assist departments to develop the skills and competencies needed to deliver rapid results and understand and manage the wiring for a high performing, continuously improving business
• Source, analyses and evaluate data for applicability and relevance, and to identify trends to inform decision making, and makes recommendations to the GM and Management team on areas where performance improvement is sought.
• Assist departments to deliver KPI results through short and long term ideas, initiatives and improved management practices.
• Assisting departments to establish robust wiring that supports a high performing, continuously improving business.
• Provides recommendations to the GM and Management team on areas where performance improvement is sought.
• Leads a team of business analysts, implementation facilitators as well as collaborating cross-functionally to deliver high quality continuous improvement at site, and ensuring there are effective resources in the respective departments for delivering improvement.
Reporting:
• Monitor, develop metrics and report business process performance against defined KPI’s.
• Conduct and maintain weekly/monthly/ quarterly/yearly status reports to key stakeholders whilst also tracking the status of the improvement projects.
Training and Coaching:
• Coach site leadership and BI Team on business improvement processes, tools, techniques and methodologies.
People Management:
• Exercises managerial leadership by ensuring that all direct reports have been properly inducted, adequately trained, demonstrate the required behaviours and possess the necessary skills & knowledge to carry out their roles safely, effectively and efficiently.
• Supports respective departments with the training & coaching on business improvement methodologies, tools & processes including the coaching & training of Implementation Facilitators
• Conducts regular performance reviews of the BI Team resources
• Challenges and develops the BI Team

Change Management:
• Adhere to the company’s change management process.
• Engage with relevant stakeholders for potential change impacts and supports the site leadership with change management pertaining to business improvement
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Ability to lead senior technical specialists.
• Proven leadership experience across multifunctional projects and/or across business departments.
• Ability to build and manage effective project teams, perform effectively within budgetary guidelines and is decisive and confident, with the ability to energize others.
• Demonstrable the ability to lead and inspire individuals and teams, promoting teamwork and supporting personal development.
• Deals with changing and challenging circumstances in an effective, calm and professional manner
• Excellent organisational skills
