Introduction
TAWIDO is a Non-Governmental Organization led and established by women in 2011 with the aim of promoting health, gender equality, and human rights among the women and vulnerable girls in the community. It was registered in 2013 and obtained its compliance certificate of registration No. 00NGO/R/0169 under NGO Act of 2002 to operate in Tanzania mainland. TAWIDO works to ensure development, care and protection of women and vulnerable adolescent girls by raising awareness about their rights and opportunities for development. Among other things, TAWIDO runs the helpline/ Call Center that through the Bulk SMS, Interactive Voice Response, SMS Chart Platform and toll-free services is brings the aspect of awareness, counselling, referral and linkage of clients to services from the broad network of service providers in all regions of Tanzania. TAWIDO has a solid experience in implementing global HIV programs, offering services among key and vulnerable population ranging from prevention to ART initiation as well as fighting stigma and discrimination.
TAWIDO is currently implementing EpiC project in Kinondoni Municipal which is funded by USAID through FHI360 with the aim of addressing critical gaps and bottlenecks in the response to HIV among key and vulnerable population.
To facilitate smooth implementation of this project, TAWIDO wishes to recruit qualified, experienced, motivated and dynamic individuals in the following position available;
Program Coordinator (1 Post)

Job Summary:
To provide overall leadership and management of Epic Project implementation at council level and ensures efficient and effective linkages, collaboration, and networking with LGA authorities and other Key stake holders.
Roles and Responsibilities
- -Provide overall technical, operational, and administrative support to project staff and promotes an organizational culture where policies and values are observed.
- -Oversee project budget including tracking spending, disallowed cost, approve travel request, staffs’ liquidation, reviews and approve all project expenses.
- -Responsible and accountable for timely, quality project implementation across all councils where the TAWIDO is implementing.
- Work in collaboration with other stakeholders (from the government) DSWO, DMO, DACC, CHACC at district level and Pact technical coordinators at cluster level to ensure high quality project activities delivery.
- Ensure preparation and timely completion and submission both financial and narrative reports (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, semiannual, and annual).
- Work with Data and M&E Officers to ensure that appropriate data is obtained to produce high quality timely reports.
- In collaboration with TAWIDO management, mentors project staff (Community Engagement officer, Hotline Supervisor, Case Management Coordinator, Hotline counselors etc.) as appropriate in project management, organizational development, and community development issues.
- Supports performance of project staffs by proactively addressing performance issues through regular, constructive, and honest feedback, and coaching and identifying necessary staff development needs for direct reports.
- Ensure staff are supported to deliver quality results in project implementation activities.
- Provides mentor-ship and guidance to the team members and models best practices; advises and trains other team members on, TAWIDO policies, procedures, tools, and methodologies, as needed.
- Represents TAWIDO in public events, stakeholders’ meetings and coordinate with other donor funded programs at council level.
- Performs other related tasks as needed
Staff Management
- Supervise, coach, and provide mentor-ship to the project staff.
- Assist in the recruitment of project staff (as and when required) Manage the performance of the project staff.
- Develop plans for capacity-building of the project team to enable the team to be more self-standing in the future.
- Support effective communications and joint working within the team and with other teams across the organization
Fundraising
- Identify and discuss with the Management team of any potential future funding opportunities which present themselves in the country and provide advice on their suitability and potential alignment with the TAWIDO strategic direction.
- Initiate and participate in developing funding proposals Other Ad-hoc Tasks Be cognizant of the wider implications of the project, working effectively with other TAWIDO functions in the regions: Finance, Quality team and program as appropriate.
Qualifications and other requirements specific to the role;
- Bachelor’ degree project management, Public administration and Human Resource management Health Information, Social Work or other related degree with five (5) to seven (7) years of relevant experience working in similar roles.
- Knowledge of health and development programs in Tanzania including familiarity with the national guidelines, standards and protocols.
- Experience in working with LGA, NGOs, CBOs and health facilities to implement public health projects, especially those working with vulnerable populations.
- Ability to manage tight deadlines and deliver high volumes of work with minimal supervision.
- Well-developed computer skills with high degree of proficiency in statistical applications.
