WE ARE LOOKING FOR A PROGRAM COORDINATOR LANDSCAPE RESTORATION
Justdiggit is a fast-growing non-profit organisation working on landscape restoration in Africa. As an African-European organization, our staff is based in multiple countries, but our main hubs are the Amsterdam office and the Regional Office East Africa (ROEA) in Nairobi. As we are scaling up further, we are looking for an experienced program coordinator in Tanzania to strengthen our team in Arusha!
Location: Arusha, Tanzania
Employment type: Full time
We have a hugely ambitious goal: we want to enable 350 million subsistence farmers in Sub-Saharan Africa to regreen their own land before 2030!
If we bring back nature on a large enough scale, we can positively impact climate change. Together with farmers, pastoralists, and local partners, we cool down the planet by regreening dry and degraded land in Sub-Saharan Africa. We combine traditional and scalable nature-based solutions with data, communication and (mobile) technology. Our goal is not just to regreen Africa; it’s to grow an interconnected grassroots regreening movement that inspires people all over the world to DIG IN for our planet.
We have successfully been working on landscape restoration programs at scale in Kenya and Tanzania for the past years and are now expanding to other countries, like Togo, Ethiopia and Madagascar.
WHAT WE DO IN TANZANIA
In Tanzania, we are working with and through local partners in Dodoma, Singida, Manyara and Arusha
regions. Our most important partner is the Dodoma-originated LEAD Foundation, with whom we have a
large program in Central Tanzania focusing on Farmer Managed Natural Regeneration (FMNR). We are
already working in close to 400 villages, but have the ambition to expand this to 1,000 villages by 2030!
We use innovative mobile technology and communication to make as many people aware of naturebased
solutions to regreen their own land as we can. We’re currently developing a ‘Regreen app’ that will
make it possible for millions of smallholder farmers all over Africa to start regreening for themselves. A
large part of this development, especially the testing of different iterations of this app, takes place in
Tanzania!
