The Agroforestry Trainees are fresh graduates from the agriculture background that are trained with JTI in relation to assist the Agro Forestry Manager to fully implement the key Agro-Forestry initiatives through the organizing and monitoring of contracted vendors, JTI contracted PS’s and their farmers. Perform required tasks with integrity and efficiency. The Agro-Forestry Trainees & Technicians will liaise with the Agro forestry Manager, Leaf Production Technicians and growers to achieve timely delivery of the JTI initiative forestry program and the grower forestry program.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in working out reforestation requirements and implementation of strategies on tobacco production demand through coordinating and monitoring TAP implementation, and farmers/Primary societies progress, Working with Agroforestry Manager and LPT base in a professional manner controlling with fluidity all aspects related to agroforestry, Planning and preparing all the required agroforestry inputs and ensure timely ordering and delivery thereof to the growers, oversee the distribution of the agroforestry inputs through the Leaf Production Technicians base to all JTILS contracted tobacco growers, assist with contracting, agroforestry input distribution, growing, seedling distribution and verification for all JTILS contracted tree seedling our growers and
monitoring performance of LPT’s agroforestry work in the field within his allotted regions/areas.
Database creation of all JTILS contracted growers involved in agroforestry through highlighting GPS coordinates, survival rates, performance of growers and numbers of tree seedlings planted, planning, coordinating and monitoring of distribution of all agroforestry related matters, reforestation support and reporting, reforestation training & evaluation and overseeing JTILS TAP Program by conducting field visits with LPT’s and LPS’s to adviseand support both LPT and growers in forestry management processes within his allotted regions/areas.
Manage all JTILS tree seedling production in all JTILS and PS nurseries including, numbers, sowing,germination, rearing, logistical organization, distribution of seedlings and all casual labor matters relating to JTILS and PS tree seedling production grower base within his allotted regions/areas.
Understand the Health and Safety risks and follow all operational controls to prevent incidents, actively participate in health and Safety training programs, understand legal and JTI EHS requirements associated with their work and comply with all rules and demonstrate safe behavior and actively report ideas for improvement and report unsafe conditions.
Requirements
- Education University Diploma in Agriculture/ Forestry
- Languages & Computer Skills Fluent in English & Good Communication Skills, High Level of Knowledge of MS Excel, Powerpoint and Database application and have an understanding of the tobacco industry and its operations.
