Geita Gold Mining Ltd (GGML) is Tanzania’s leading gold producer with a single operation in Geita Region. The mine is situated in the Lake Victoria Gold fields of Northwestern Tanzania, only about 85 km’s from Mwanza City and 20 km’s Southeast of the nearest point of Lake Victoria. Position: Coordinator 2 – ASM Tenement Information Management

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
The purpose of the role is to provide frontline ASM & Tenement Information Management support services to Geita Gold Mine and external stakeholders, through face-to-face interactions and over electronic means. The coordinator provides day to day technical support as well as education, guidance, and advice on ASM & Tenement IM best practices.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, Community Development/Relations, Development Studies, Land Management, Architecture, Laws, or any other related academic background
- A post qualification in community development / relations (will be an added advantage)

EXPERIENCE:
- 3 – 5 years relevant practical experience, or extensive in, and knowledge of, stakeholder engagement practices especially in the mining industry
- Extensive knowledge and experience in using GIS application software and GPS devices
- Proven practical experience ASM Management, resettlement, and compensations
MAIN OR KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Manage and document all developments within and close to tenement boundaries and ensure proper software documentation of reports in both GIS & Scanned mode so that the record is accurate, secured and centrally available. This includes photographs and maps of the compensated areas
- Participate and contribute to all land compensation actions in accordance with the GGML land and compensation policy, in collaboration with the grievance and community liaison officers to ensure that reported ASM&SML related complaints and grievances are clearly and timely resolved in line with existing policies and procedures.
- Collect data using GPS device, aerial photography and other tools for interpretation purpose covering the status of the tenement before and after activities conducted by the Company and other stakeholders, including the Tanzania Services Forests Agency.
- Assess and advise the Senior Supervisor on land access issues involving 3rd party that may potentially affect the interest of the Company
- Produce monthly tenement status depicting areas that have been invaded by unlawful activities such as illegal mining, deforesters, illegal grazing and farming, including coordinates of open and backfilled voids, farmed land and damaged forests
- Design digital maps with geographical data and other data sources to fit the desired purpose
- Produce map showing spatial distribution of various kinds of data and locations
- Convert physical maps into digital form to enable computer users to simplify decision – making process
- Compile reports using available GIS and GPS data sources for management consumption
- Manage digital library of all information pertaining to GGM tenement.
- Participate in and document Incident Investigations involving/tenement/land access issues
- Participate in sensitizing all stakeholders from the early and later stage of the compensation exercises.
- Create, maintain, and update geodatabase using GIS application software
- Develop action plans, Implement, and produce and submit weekly and monthly reports to the Senior Supervisor – ASM & Tenement Management
- Regularly work to update the company AuRisk and Integrated Community Information Management System
- Compilation of detailed information regarding resettlement, compensation and other matters of land access
- Compilation of detailed information regarding illegal mining and other forms of unlawful activities on the tenement
- Weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports regarding ASM and Tenement management
- Review, assess, and advise site management on all matters related to tenement management, ASM activities adjacent to the SML, illegal mining activities within the concession.
- Prepare stakeholders engagement plan and ensure regular and timely implementation of stakeholder’s engagement plan to address all land related matters
- Leadership and technical guidance to the ASM and Land Access Officers
- Organize land assessments when necessary
- Document and prepare all reports related to tenements management
- Attend and represent the company at stakeholders meeting related to tenements management
- Lead a team of subordinates, conduct and document staff performance reviews
